Senate President Franklin Drilon erred in making a fuss over his being asked to remove his shoes for inspection at San Francisco airport when he was on his way home from a US speaking engagement.

Wounded by the events of September 11, and in its heart suspecting that much of the world hates it for all that it’s inflicted on the planet in the last 50 years, the United States has put in place elaborate security measures within its territories, and not only in its airports.

Random inspections and searches which include being made to take off one’s shoes are part of those measures
